Since the outset of the project, implementation of the UAM + CSIC CIE Action Plan included the creation of the Association for the Development of the UAM+CSIC CIE which, initially, comprises the UAM, the CSIC and InnorMadrid.
The CIE Association's main mission is to develop and monitor execution of the joint strategy for quality and internationalisation of the UAM+CSIC Campus of International Excellence, based on the aims outlined by its members in the Strategic Plan, and being proactive in the search for new initiatives that unlock value for the institutions'.
Its natural spheres of action are, therefore, the launch and monitoring of the joint programmes established in the project, the fostering of new strategic aggregate bodies in research structure and transfer, and the dissemination and projection, both at home and abroad, of the CIE, as well as other similar projects that might emerge as the UAM+CSIC CIE is implemented. It will also act as the formal point of entry and articulation of the new aggregate bodies to the UAM+CSIC CIE as these emerge.
According to its bylaws, the main governing body is the Association Assembly, initially comprising its founding members. The bylaws also define a Steering Committee, appointed by the Assembly to foster, manage and supervise the broad areas described above. For its ordinary operation, the Steering Committee has set up the following coordinating and management committees:
The UAM is ultimately responsible for the economic management and calls for application and is mandated to managed the programme of a vice-chancellorship, currently that of Scientific Policy and Research Infrastructure.
